Would you go off piste?

Photograph by Andrew Miller
With the ski season in full swing, there's no better time then the present to be hitting the slopes.

It's fun and exciting whether you're a skier or a snowboarder, plus it's a good way to keep active and healthy - as well as a great way to see some stunning views from the mountains... but would you ever try something like this? Of course you would need to be at a professional standard to even attempt a off piste slope like this and even then it is extremely dangerous... but so is skiing/snowboarding in general.

I think sticking to the blue or green slopes sounds ideal to us!

Back-country Skiing

Photograph by Richard Hallman
The ski season is upon us! There's nothing better the gliding down the snowy slopes on a clear day, but what about back-country skiing? It's a little more extreme and dangerous but this is exactly what skier Tommy Ellingson did, who is seen here launching off a jump at 8,000 feet on the White River Glacier!

Would you ever try something like this?

Ice Ice Baby

Image: essentialtravel.co.uk
The cold, frosty, wintery weather has definitely arrived and it doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon. The best bit of winter... has to be all the ice skating rinks that have opened up and down the country! It's the perfect time to get those skate on and glide across the ice (or maybe fall)... depending on your skills.

Ice skating is a great activity that the whole family can enjoy, also it's a great way to exercise and have fun - but all that whizzing around the rink can build up an appetite. So why not grab a pot of our tasty Grasshopper soups to help fill those empty stomachs!

With three flavours to choose from, Tomato & Basil, Mushroom & Chives and Lentil & Coconut, there is something for everyone.

Climbing in Iceland

Here is 16 year old veteran ice climber Tim Emmett climbing Iceland's Myrdalsjokull Glacier.

Emmett and climbing partner Dawn Glanc spent ten days exploring new routes and meeting locals. Initially they were looking for an icefall to climb but during their time in Iceland the weather was having a warm spell so had to find a glacier instead.

This certainly is a surreal moment and looks stunning!

Skiing in Chile

Photograph by Christian Pondella

Would you ever go skiing in Portillo, Chile, overlooking Laguna del Inca? Chris Davenport certainly did! And just look at that view - isn't it simply amazing.

Portillo is truly one of the world's most unique ski destinations. There is no town, just a old hotel at the foot of the lake high in the Andes, which caters to all skiers and boarders, families to freeriders.

We are certainly jealous - wish we could be there.
