Kick start the day with a pot of fibre!

Today, new studies reveal that eating a bowl of breakfast cereal daily can increase a heart attack survivors' chances of living longer!

Researchers found that diets with a fibre increase - especially cereals - was the link with lower death rates, and those who ate the most fibre had a 25% lower chance of dying in the nine years after their heart attack, compared to those who ate the least.

But remember this isn't the only benefit of fibre, as is also helps reduce blood cholesterol, improve glucose levels and lower blood pressure, just to name a few.

A fibre based breakfast really is a great way to kick start the day... take our Porridge for instance, it's quick and easy to make, extremely tasty and packed full of fibre!

Mothering Sunday!

On Sunday it's Mothering Sunday... a day to pamper and treat your mum, for all the nice things she has done! But how will you be treating her this weekend?

Well, look no more... we have a couple of tricks up our sleeves that can help put a smile on your mums face!

Pamper Days
You can take your mum to a day of pampering at a beautiful spa, to help her unwind and relax. But this can end up being rather pricey, so spend the day with your mum at home while doing face masks, foot rubs, pedicures and manicures... all in the comfort of your own home, or your mums home!

Adventurous Walks
All mums are different... and if your mum is more outdoorsy, then put on those walking boots and get outside! Take in the brisk fresh air and head out on a walk around the local woods or lake... or jump on a train/car and explore a nearby village filled with walking tracks waiting to be explored!

• Breakfast in Bed
You don't need to be a chef to treat you mum to breakfast in bed... especially when we make it so easy for you. Grab a delicious pot of our porridge, in your mums favourite flavour of course, and just add in hot water... make it extra special by putting it on a tray with a little flower and a glass of cool iced water with a slice of lemon, or a lovely cup of tea!

Movie Evenings
Some of us don't have the luxury of having work off on Sundays... so make the most of your evening by spoiling your mum by having a lovely evening watching her favourite films. But don't binge out on junk food, grab a pot of our noodles instead, which are super tasty and healthy! Even better, all you need to do is just add hot water into the pot - so you won't miss any of the exciting parts when the film is on!

Crunchy Granola!

What is it they say about the simple things in life being the best? In this case it's definitely true...

This happens to be the best granola you'll ever taste and the actual making is incredibly easy. You can have it with milk for breakfast; over yogurt; drizzled with honey late at night; or just grab a handful as you pass the jar for an on-the-go snack.

INGREDIENTS:
65g brazil nuts, crushed
35g whole almonds, crushed
25g macadamia nuts, crushed
25g hazelnuts, crushed
2 pots of Grasshopper Coconut & Date porridge
75g unrefined sugar
7 tbsp maple syrup
50g unsalted butter
6 tbsp hazelnut oil (from supermarkets)

METHOD:
1. Preheat oven to 160 C (fan - 140 C).
2. Crush each type of nut and roast on a baking tray separately until they turn golden. Do the same with the oats - bake until golden.
3. Turn the oven down to 120 C and mix the roasted ingredients in a bowl. Put the sugar, maple syrup, butter and hazelnut oil into a pan, melt and then add to the dry ingredients, mix well.
4. Place mixture back onto the backing tray and bake for 15-20 minutes.
5. All to cool, then break into large crunchy pieces.

And enjoy!

Pregnancy & Oats!

about.com
With a number of celebrity babies due over the next several months, we thought now would be a great time to give you a number of tips and tricks to keep you and your unborn baby healthy until the joyous arrival. Did you know that eating porridge oats is especially good for you whilst pregnant?

Yes! It’s true! Oats are an excellent potent source of vitamins, minerals and complex carbohydrates, all of which are needed to ensure a healthy pregnancy. They contain high amounts of vitamin B1, B2 and E which all work together to release energy and keep the body healthy.

Porridge is also a great source of folic acid which is very important to ensure healthy development of the foetus during the first trimester. Add variety to your breakfast by having a Hopper Pot of Fruity Coconut & Date or Cinnamon & Raisin or even keep it simple and sweet with just an added touch of Cane Sugar.

Not only is this beneficial for you it also will be for your baby as well.

Get Your Beach Body Ready!

Image: hm.com

Well well well. The sun is shining in the sky and the frost has melted from the ground, meaning spring is nigh. The Body Goddess Law requires you to journey to a beach holiday. What will you do about that beach body?

There’s actually an easy and fuss-free way to get in shape. You don’t need to break sweat for months to look like a goddess in a bikini. With these quick and easy tricks, your beach body will earn some serious stares.

As you know, oats are incredibly good for you. But they also do wonders when it comes to dieting as they are a slow-releaser of energy that keeps you fuller for longer. Have a pot of Cinnamon & Raisin in the morning and that’s guaranteed to keep you going until lunchtime. And at less than 250 calories a pot!

Why not consider our soups at lunch? Ditch the mayo sandwich and heavily dressed salads... At around 100 cal (yes - you heard right, only 100!) our three flavours are filling, nutritious and so easy to prepare. Choose from Lentil & Coconut, Mushroom & Chive or Tomato & Basil and have it with a slice of wholemeal toast if you like.

Treat yourself to a healthy, properly cooked dinner meal - we’re thinking lean meat or fish with plenty of greens. Stick to this routine and you’ll see results in no time.
